Odd Things About Me

From E. Lockhart's blog. She's a teen-lit author and has super-cool lookin' book covers.

Also...these aren't that odd. They're a bit quirky, but I've seen odder.

37 Odd Things About Me

1. Do you like blue cheese?

I do, especially in dressing form with buffalo chicken. However, I just read of a blue-cheese-cupcake recipe that I don't ever want to try.

2. Have you ever smoked?

Never, even when Alena did in 1st or 2nd grade and I would have done anything to make her think I was cool.

3. Do you own a gun?

Not even a fake one--unless you count the prop I kept from a high school play I was in.

4. What flavor Kool Aid was your favorite?

Grape or Cherry. Also, what's this 'was' business?

5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments?

Girl appointments, yes, because no one can find that comfortable. I get White Coat syndrome when they take my blood pressure and it's way higher before the stirrups than after.

6. What do you think of hot dogs?

They're a staple, especially on this diet. I eat 'em with hot dog chili and cheddar cheese sprinkled on top, then microwaved for 2 minutes. I don't want to ever know how they're made.

7. Favorite Christmas movie?

A Charlie Brown Christmas. Meet Me In St. Louis, if that counts as a Christmas movie. Christmas Eve on Sesame Street--another good one. Didn't like National Lampoon--sorry, husband.

8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?

Usually a cold Diet Coke or other caffeinated diet soda. But when it's cold, I'll do a double cup of coffee with sugar-free Da Vinci syrup, cream, and Splenda.

9. Can you do push ups?

I don't think so. I can do those girly ones, though, that they let us do in Summer Gym, where your knees are on the ground.

10. What's your favorite piece of jewelry?

My marriage ring. I also love my silver Kewpie necklace from Poppy and the star sapphire ring that was Mom's.

11. Favorite hobby?

Scrapbooking--shopping, organizing, reading its magazines, and sometimes even DOING a page!

12. Do you have A.D.D.?

Ooh! The Hills is on. I'm hungry. Crap, I need to run the dishwasher before I leave.

13. Do you wear glasses/contacts?

Glasses on a rare occasion when my contacts are bugging me. They have green wire frames and my sister says I don't look any different with them on, thank goodness.

14. Middle name?

Lee, just like Mom's. Hers is cuter, though, because her first name is Peggy.

15. Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment?

There is so much to do around this house, and I'm blogging?

I'm hungry, but for what? Hot dogs? Cherry Kool-Aid?

What should I watch on the DVR next? Desperate Housewives looks juicy.

16. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink?

Coca-Cola Zero or Diet Pepsi with Lime; Water, 64 ounces a day; Crystal Light Natural Lemonade (I HATE Crystal Light, but oh lord is this good)

17. Current worry?

Money...always money. And if Neil's okay.

18. Current hate right now?

Sarah Palin. That Prop 8 didn't go as I had hoped. That I can't get up the motivation to thoroughly clean our place.

19. Favorite place to be?

Curled up reading on the Chair of Power over there; eating dinner out with friends or family; Paul's balcony

20. How did you bring in the new year?

Neil and I stopped to spend the night in a Marriott in Paducah, KY on our way home from Pigeon Forge. We went through a park that had a drive-through Christmas lights display, had delivery pizza in our hotel, and bought a cheap bottle of Spumante for midnight (from a drive-thru liquor store!). We watched TV until midnight, toasted, and he went to sleep. I watched fireworks out the window, and when Neil farted, he mumbled "fireworks."

The next evening, the 1st, we went to Dad's to celebrate Mom's and Lily's birthday, and had black-eyed peas and cornbread, as we always do.

21. Where would you like to go?

I've already answered this recently, so I'll think of something different...

Door County, Wisconsin; Pensacola; Giant Robot

22. Name three people who will complete this?

Zero people

23. Do you own slippers?

I do, but I can't really get into them. (Not that they don't fit, just that I can't get into them, like when I can't get into a new TV show or a book.) I hate having sweaty or hot feet, and even thick slipper-socks are too much. I just normally do regulars.

24. What shirt are you wearing?

Two: a black sleeveless shell I had on for work, and over that is a dusky blue long sleeved t-shirt. It's a little chilly.

25. Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?

No, they catch on my fingernails.

26. Can you whistle?

Yes...I used to do the Sweeney Todd whistle all the time, when Todd and Turpin are whistling together. Such a pretty tune for such a dark moment!

27. Favorite color?

Green...Lime, Apple, Olive, Sage...Forest has fallen out of favor since the 90s but I don't hate it...

28. Would you be a pirate?

No, I like to be at home, thanks.

29. What songs do you sing in the shower?

"Anthem" from Chess; "Oh What a Beautiful Mornin'" from Oklahoma; "Sarah Brown Eyes" from Ragtime; "Moonfall," "No Good Can Come From Bad," "Don't Quit While You're Ahead," and "Both Sides of the Coin" from The Mystery of Edwin Drood; "Ribbons Down My Back" and "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" from Hello, Dolly!; "Love Song" and "Corner of the Sky" from Pippin; "Halloween" and "What You Own" from Rent; "Popular" from Wicked, "The Letter" from Billy Elliot; "On My Own" from Les Mis; "Unworthy of Your Love" from Assassins; "Giants in the Sky" and "I Know Things Now" from Into the Woods; "River in the Rain" and "Worlds Apart" from Big River; "Spark of Creation" and "The Waste Land" from Children of Eden; "A Fine White Horse" from Secret Garden; "I Remember Sky" from Evening Primrose.

I like musicals, you see. And it's not always in the shower, of course; just at home when no one's really around. I often wonder if my neighbors can hear, though.

30. Favorite Girl's Name?

A favorite? I don't know. I don't really like girls. Veronica's okay. Pretty, old-fashioned names like Lucy or Alice.

31. Favorite boy's name?

Weston Kermit. You're not naming your kid that, either: it's mine. It's also a family name, so I think I have dibs that way, too.

32. What's in your pocket right now?

Nothing, having things in my pockets bugs me.

33. Last thing that made you laugh?

Looking at old photos from Ridgeway a past teacher scanned and put on Facebook.

34. What vehicle do you drive?

A 2007 Toyota Corolla in Cactus Pearl.

35. Worst injury you've ever had?

I broke my thumb working at the Devil Theatre, Arrow Rock Lyceum, in the summer of 1998.

36. Do you love where you live?

Yes. Sometimes it's too hot in the summer, and too cold in the winter, and I hate that the rest of the state is soooooo Red, but I do love Columbia.

37. How many TVs do you have in your house?

Two, one in the bedroom that doesn't have cable so I use it for videos/DVDs, and our huge one in the living room with all the good channels.

Scattergory Meme

Aight, bitches, I love scattergories, and I like memes. Let's get it on.

(Also, I'm forgetting to cite lately. And I forgot where I got this one too. Sooo...let's give this one an "Oh, well.")

Okay, the name of the game is SCATTERGORIES. You must answer each question using the first letter of your name. And it must be a "real" answer, nothing you made up. If you don't have an answer, skip it. Ready? Go!

Your Name:
Genevieve

1. Famous Singer/Band:

Genesis (Just saw that creepy "Land of Confusion" video the other day. Why was I not more disturbed by it as a child?)

2. 4 letter word:

Grim (I'm listening to HP 3 now.)
Or, Gosh. I must stop this cursing!

3. Street:

Glenwood. There're two in Columbia (regular--cobblestoned, so cute-- and South, which is wayyyy different than the regular one), and one in Boardman.

4. Color:

Green, YES!

5. Gifts/Presents:

Giant pencil (from Mom, in elementary school. It was purple and had a huge eraser. I loved that thing so much. I carved boys' initials in it.)

6. Vehicle:

The Gremlin

7. Things in a Souvenir Shop:

Glass Figurines of Animals, Usually In A Lighted Case To Make Them Look Classy
(usually found in a Stuckey's)

8. Boy Name:

Gay
(or Gaylord. But I like Gay better.)

9. Girl Name:
Glynis (thank you, Ms. Johns!)
(These were fairly easy, as Amanda and I call each other different names each time we communicate--the only rule is that they must begin with the same letter as our existing names.)

10. Movie Title:

Girls Just Want to Have Fun
(YOU HAVE TO SEE IT NOW. GO NOW. I WILL WAIT HERE FOR YOUR REPORT.)

11.Drink:

Grog
(During my one [miserable] RenFest experience, the pirates sang a song about 'Me jolly jolly grog,' and it was cute and funny. The ONLY thing cute and funny about that day.)

12. Occupation:

Garbage man
(are there garbage women? Have you ever seen any?)

13. Flower:

Gladiola
(I know nothing about flowers, really. I read a YA book once about a girl who gave her crush flowers when he was sick, and the florist suggested gladiolus because they were a 'masculine' flower.)

14. Celebrity:

Greg Evigan, of My Two Dads, briefly of Melrose Place

15. Magazine:

Good Housekeeping. I get it now--it was free after some online order I placed.

16. U.S. City:

Glen Carbon, IL, where we stopped to get Quizno's on our way home yesterday.

17. Pro Sports Teams:

Green Bay Packers! I do love a good cheese.

18. Fruit:

Grapefruit.
I'm a big fan of a nice, sweet/sour grapefruit. Dad taught me the fine art of eating one: Cut the whole thing in half, then separate the sections from the rind with a grapefruit knife (NOT a grapefruit spoon). Leaving the sections in the rind, use a straight knife to separate the fruit sections from each section's skin, which is too tough to eat. Sprinkle a little sugar on top, and dig in with a regular spoon, section by section. At the end, squeeze all that delicious juice out and drink it.

19. Reason for Being Late for Work:
Grand Central Station shut down and we were rerouted to Williamsburg.
(I miss New York...)

20. Something You Throw Away:
Gum, chewed
(I can't chew it for very long anyway. I might as well throw it all out without even unwrapping it.)

21. Things You Shout:
Good Gravy!
(Double points!)

22. Cartoon Character:

Grape Ape.
That one cartoon on the USA Network Sunday Cartoon Express when I was little.
Remember?
No?
Do I have to say Garfield?

Five Things I Like About My State

Timely without being too political! I love it!

1. Although many friends are far off, since this is the hometown of several of them (as well as mine), they always come back...and I'm here to see them. Recent re-visiters have been Sarah, Betsy, and Emily...to name just a few. And it's really neat to run into old family friends or teachers here and there, some of whom I haven't seen in years.

2. Columbia's community events: Art in the Park every June, the Harvest Festival in September, Living Windows at Christmas downtown, the lighting of the big Christmas tree at Shelter, Homecoming parades and House Decs, the holiday parade where us Girl Scouts would ride each year, the Show-Me-State Games, hearing the cheers from Faurot from our balcony during home games, the Twilight Festival downtown Thursday nights in June and September...

3. The fall trees here are breathtaking. I know a lot of states have good fall trees, but it just seems like it gets better every year. Steve said during a recent visit that he'd just seen a tree with leaves in a color he'd never even known existed.

4. Everything is about ten minutes away from everything in Columbia. Everything. When traffic's an issue, it's maybe twenty. We are not a small town, and we're not a big city: as far as I'm concerned, we're perfect. Except maybe let's get an Archiver's.

5. St Louis is 2 hours away, and it DEFINITELY has everything I need. First: it has Emily. Second: Broadway shows at the Fox (I AM SO EXCITED FOR RENT! I don't have tickets yet, though. I check all the time to see if they're on sale.). Third: it does have an Archiver's. Fourth: It has an awesome zoo, and one of my favorite places on Earth, the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

5b. Kansas City is also 2 hours away, and it has its own appeal. First: The Plaza and some grrreat shopping. Second: It has unexplored scrapbook shopping. Someday I'm doing a shopping spree there. Third: My favorite museum is there, the Nelson-Atkins. And I've seen some museums, folks. Fourth: Better tickets were available for the NKOTB show here than at St Louis. Wheee!

It's November, And That Means CHRISTMAS!!

Off someone's blog ("Sharkey Malarkey"), who got it from one Mary P...

For me, Christmas can't start early enough. Even in early August, when I see that Hobby Lobby has begun stocking their rows of ornaments and wreaths, and Michael's has set up their *fan-TAS-tic* moving, singing Christmas village--it's never too early. I ignore the cries all around me of other store patrons, shouting loudly "SCHOOL hasn't even started yet and they're putting up CHRISTMAS stuff!??"

But for the most part, my passion has to remain silent. Lord knows, Dad won't discuss any type of Christmas decoration or even a *mention* of what type of poultry we'll have this year for Christmas dinner until, like, after Thanksgiving. It's so disheartening. My good friend AmyZ, who I met while working for the a$$wipes at DBRL, shares my year-round love of Christmas, and I'm lucky to have someone like that in my life so I may indulge in Holiday Cheer with a cohort as early as I dang well please.

So...a Merry MeMe! It IS November, after all, folks. I have waited long enough.

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?

I have, thanks to Budget Living, adopted a new Holiday Beverage: Milk Punch. One word, three syllables: OHMAGAHHHHHHHH.

When I'm lazy and don't make it, though, we add some whiskey to egg nog and take it in lidded travel mugs to go look at Christmas lights. Can't get too cold when that's running through your veins!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?

Neither. Lily wraps all the presents, and they go in front of the fireplace. The fireplace doesn't work, so they're not in danger of incinerating.

3. Colored lights on the tree/house, or white?

White, but I do like a little color jazz thrown in. I like buying all new incarnations of lights each year during the after-Christmas sales, and that generally introduces some color into the mix. I don't like all-blue lights, is all.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

No. When I was a small kid, I went over to a friend's house, and I didn't like her stepdad, and they had put one up and I was afraid he was gonna kiss me (I had no reason for thinking this). So I always had kind of an aversion to mistletoe, though I like when Dad tells me stories about how he used to shoot them down from trees when he was a little boy.

5. When do you put your decorations up?

I did it November 1st a few years back (fake white tree, Graceland at Christmas model, Cobblestone Corners village all over the living room), but by the time Christmas came, I was tired of having all that room taken up. If I had a bigger place, I'd put them up November 1st. These days we get the Dawson tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving and usually have it decorated by the next weekend, and the rest of the decorations are hung/placed by then as well.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

This is a hard one: Aunt Laura's salad? Warm apple pie made by Lynn Parshall with Mom's wigwam sauce (that "no dessert" clause is bullshit...)? Wanda's cinnamon rolls? Juicy capon?

No.

Dad's Au Gratin potatoes. Hands DOWN. They're not like the ones you know, people. They're potatoes cut into bite-sized chunks, swimming in a rich cheese sauce and cooked until browned. I can't even explain them. We get them twice a year: once at Thanksgiving, once at Christmas.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:

Each year is really, really good. But I'll never forget a few years back (okay, I wasn't really a child, but this is child-LIKE) when we were out driving looking at lights on Christmas Eve, and a light snow began falling. We were around Greektown, and passed a breathtakingly perfect Stankowski Field, utterly white, unmarred, and evenly snowed-upon. It was begging to be messed with.

Naturally, we parked the car on Maryland (we were the *ONLY* ones around) and raced onto the field, spelling out holiday greetings and skating around the rubbery surface (I wrote HELLO HELICOPTER to the Staff for Life helicopter that would no doubt be taking off to save some drunk driver's life later that night) and generally having a terrific time.

8. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

We used to as kids, but our Christmas Eve is so perfect these days without it that the tradition has fallen out of fashion, and Christmas morning is reserved for presents. I used to like to save one present to open on Christmas night, but no one would do it with me (except maybe Dad, once).

9. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?

White lights all over, with our random ornaments peppering the branches of the 11-12 foot tree: yearly balls from Grandma, stained glass ornaments Dad made, craftily handmade ones by Mama and her talented friends, messily precious elementary-school art-class glittering monstrosities, things that were in Michael's post-Christmas sale I begged Mom to get, a set of Wizard of Ozzes I always try to place in close proximity to one another but which everyone else re-situates, knowing it would drive me crazy. There's also a really, really good school photo of Joe that's always front and center. (RAT TAIL!)

Dad sets up a snowy hill underneath the tree with his Lionel train set going around the base, I add the village pieces, and it's the most charming scene ever.

10. Snow! Love it or dread it?

It's a love/hate thing, for real. It's so pretty, and I love being *inside* watching it dance, when I know I don't have to go outside anytime soon. But it's a pain when I do have to. I remember walking home from the school bus one winter afternoon when I was a young'un, and the snow was getting in my footwear and soaking my jeans, and I thought "I'm grown up now. Snow is becoming annoying rather than awesome."

11. Can you ice skate?

Yes, I've been a few times, to the trashy little Jeff City rink. I was surprised at how easy it was. Once, me and my friend Lauren began to stand in line for the Rockefeller Center rink, but we were getting kinda hungry so we left. I sort of regret that we didn't do it. Even though I think she took me to Junior's, and it was the best ever.

12. Do you remember your favorite gift?

Hmm...I remember a lot of gifts. Emily gave me a photo collage last year that made me cry, and the year before that, she made me a crazy-wonderful Oz duvet cover. Come to think of it, she *always* gives awesome, generally handmade gifts. Neil gave me a pair of alabaster hearts a month after we began dating, and told me he loved me (for the first time) as I began to open them. In high school, Lindsay once gave me a piggy watch I wanted so bad. The mama pig was in the middle and the second hand were her piglets. Only once a minute were the piglets situated correctly, underneath her teats.

13. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?

Togetherness.

14. What is your favorite holiday dessert?

Oh, okay, here's the dessert portion. The aforementioned apple pie. But I also love a good pumpkin cheesecake with a thick, buttery graham cracker crust.

15. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Christmas Eve: Dinner out (at Olive Garden, if me and Steve have our way--but Mac Grill or Sophia's also works), maybe go see Steve sing a Christmas song during Unity's Christmas service (candles everywhere, carols, SUCH a wonderful evening), then pile and squish in the car to careen around town looking at Christmas lights, with a little Christmas Trivia whenever we think of it. When we finally get back home, we turn on "A Christmas Story" (24 hours of it on TBS, every year!) and Lily wraps everyone's gifts while I finish whatever huge crafty thing I didn't allow enough time for.

16. What tops your tree?

The clear four-pointed stained-glass star Dad made many, many years ago. He positions a twinkle light behind it so it shines.

17. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?

Giving, definitely. I mean, I love getting, but nothing makes me more excited than someone opening a present I put a lot of effort/thought into.

18. What is your favorite Christmas Song?

We Three Kings...Joy to the World (we had this beautiful record when I was little, and I always begged Mom and Dad to let me play this song during the year. They only let me in December, though)...Whose Child is This (Amanda even set "Greensleeves" on her old phone to be 'my' ring)...I Saw Three Ships (that one depresses me a little, to think people were sailing ships on Christmas morning instead of being with their families)...White Christmas (Bing Crosby)...

They're all my favorites. But I like the traditional ones, not these new Sting-helmed charity projects with new artists singing everything.

I don't see a theme here...

This comes from The Daily MeMe, who got it from Sunday Stealing...who got it from....someone else.

What are your nicknames?

G...Gen...Genny...Vieve...G-Dawg (this was in the 90s, folks.  Please don't use it now).

What TV gameshow or reality show would you like to be on?

I always thought Jeopardy would be fun, but now I aim for Cash Cab. Jeopardy would be too tough.

What was the first movie you bought in VHS or DVD?

It was definitely VHS. Young Guns, maybe? Back to the Future II? I had a bunch.

What is your favorite scent?

Estee Lauder Pleasures. Oh, and clove!

If you had one million dollars to spend only on yourself, what would you spend it on?

Scrapbooking supplies and storage solutions. And a house to put it all in! Maybe the one on Stewart Road with the elevator. Or the indoor pool.

What is one place you've visited, can't forget and want to go back to?

I can't name just one! Bath, England; NYC; Door County; that one little Bronte village in England...

Do you trust easily?

I am gullible, but I don't trust easily. I never assume people are acting a certain way toward me for anything except their personal gain.

Do you generally think before you act, or act before you think?

I do A LOT of overthinking, and then I act on that overthinking before I think.

Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?

Of course!

Do you have a good body image?

Of course not!

What is your favorite fruit?

The Pumelo. Nature's huge ball of perfection. The half hour fruit, I call it, because that's how long it takes me to get one absolutely perfectly peeled.

What websites do you visit daily?

Hotmail, Google Reader, The New York Times Crossword page, Rex Parker Does the New York Times Crossword, Facebook

What have you been seriously addicted to lately?

I've been too exhausted lately to harvest any new addictions. But I am always addicted to crosswords, Hidden Object Games, Hexic, Snood, Neil, talking to Emily, reading, and reruns of pleasant 80s shows.

What's the last song that got stuck in your head?

"New Shoes" has been in my head for about three days.

What is your favorite thing to wear?

My gray and white striped yoga pants. Both Neil and I like them.

Do you think Rice Krispies are yummy?

Only in treat form.

What would you do if you saw $100 lying on the ground?

Pick it up and keep that lovely money! Unless I saw who dropped it. Then I'd run after them. I've done that before, so I suppose I should do it again.

What items couldn't you go without during the day?

Chapstick, lotion, Neil, contact lenses, extra saline, water, Clearasil face wipes, Colgate paste, electric toothbrush, MY hairbrush, octopus claw, cell phone, an internet connection, nail clipper, cheese

What should you be doing right now?

Probably unpacking. Posting on my regular blog. Reading Google Reader. Anything but this. :)

I'm diving in...

Because sometimes, I feel guilty about doing tags/memes/surveys/what have you on my regular blog. So since I could do them every day (and I think it's ultra neat to look at them later), I'm devoting this spanking new blog to this vice o' mine.

Some I find on friends' blogs, some on blogs I stalk of folks I don't know, and some come from sites like "The Daily Meme." I'll always cite, though...I didn't not do any assigned reading in 2.5 years of library school for nothing.

First: from Emily's blog. A countdown.

Ten Things I wish I could say to Ten Different People right now
Wow, the bad ones are way easier than the more positive ones! But I'll try to mix it up.

Whenever you eat that, you have really bad gas, and I smell it all day. And I can never let on.

I can't believe you haven't acknowledged this event.

I'm so glad I was able to tell you something I would have put here a week ago.

I wish I could take a lot of things back. I wish I could make you happy.

I only offered to be your friend that one time so everyone else would think I was a nice and good person.

I wish you'd tell me when you think I do good things or make good decisions.

I love, love, love not working for you anymore. Thank you for not hiring me again.

You're a racist, egotistical pig, and I won't forgive you in a million years.

I don't like how you treat her. It doesn't match what I know of you, and that puzzles me.

You need to get used to someone loving you this much...please?

Nine Things about Myself

I try really, really, really hard not to bite my nails anymore. Sometimes I think I'm over it, but then I inevitably slip.

One reason I like scrapbooking is because it gives me an excuse to revert to my old pack-ratting habits, in a healthy way.

I'm not religious and I don't think I ever will be.

I'm liberal, but I hate talking politics. So please don't bring it up, unless you're sure we feel exactly the same way about an issue. Even then, I don't really feel the need to discuss it for long.

I have never taken so much as a drag from a single cigarette, but I think I'm a smoker. I dream about it as if I'm addicted. So I never, ever will try one.

I am on a low-carbohydrate diet/eating plan. Yes, I know it's not 2003. There are a surprising number of people in the online world who still swear by it.

I went to Ridgeway Elementary School, with an Independently Guided Education philosophy. This meant we all went at our own pace and switched classes all day. I know I would have gone crazy-bored in any other environment; Ridgeway, as far as I'm concerned, was the perfect school.

Game nights are some of my favorite nights. (When the people don't suck, that is.)

I don't like flowers, really; it makes me sad that they're dying the second you get them. And I don't have the temperament to maintain a garden (my aversion to the sun doesn't help matters).

Eight Ways to Win my Heart

Celebrate my guilty pleasures with me

When your new partner who I haven't met yet hugs me right away (because it means you've talked me up enough for them to know you and I are close, and that gives me warm fuzzies)

Tell me how much you love my parents

Compliment me, on anything. I'm not picky.

Share my love of pop culture, and inform me of the latest gossip on my favorites

E-mail me when you recall a memory of a good time we had together

Include me in your Facebook status! I love feeling famous.

Tell me the story of how we fell in love, even though we've recounted it a billion times.

Seven Things that Cross my Mind a lot

I don't know how I'd live without him. Please don't die.

"With the number one dealer, number one on the Business Loop/
Number one in service, number one in selection, number one for you!"

I should go to bed.

I hate driving.

I miss you!

Did I remember to set the DVR for _____?

I'm sure I missed a step in this process somewhere. This is too easy.

Six Things I do before I Fall Asleep

Rinse with mouthwash or brush with Sensodyne, depending on how sleepy I am

Wash hands with foam soap

Take out contact lenses

Check twice to make sure both doors to the outside are locked

Brush out hair and sweep it up into a claw

Check that alarm is set approximately 14 times

Five People who Mean A Lot

(I am completely cheating on this one, by the way.)

My glorious family (Dad, Steve, Lily, Joe, and Mama)

My new family Dazets

Neil

Emily

Sarahs, both Miller & Irwin

Four Things I'm Wearing Right Now

dark pink t-shirt with laces up the front

gray striped yoga pants

new tortoiseshell octopus claw

black and blue underwear (it's my honeymoon, people)

Three Songs I Listen to A Lot

You Know My Name--Chris Cornell (Casino Royale theme song)

Summertime--NKOTB (studying for the concert in KC! SURE HOPE I don't get jury duty that week!)

New Shoes--Paolo Nutini (Always puts me in a good mood. Always. I growl during the second part of "Hello new shoes/Bye bye them blues")

Two Things I Want to Do Eventually
(used to be "before I die" instead of "eventually," but I don't like thinking like that)

Visit the pyramids in Egypt

Be happy with what I see in the mirror

One Confession:
Hmm...how juicy should I get here? How to confess something interesting without hurting anyone's feelings who might possibly read this?

Okay: I often feel I like my siblings way better than they like me.

(thanks, darlin', for the inspiration for that one! you know who you are. *wink*)
